Weekends are lazy and we usually head out for breakfast! This weekend turned out to be better with an invite from Chetty’s Coffee to try their menu.
Chetty’s Coffee is a small place located on 80 feet road, amongst many other restaurants. Wooden interiors, bright yellow walls with a little place to stand is the best way to describe this outlet 🙂
The menu is designed well, consisting of 8-10 dishes which are simple yet unique. Avalakki Dose, Vegetable Dose, Pickle Dose, Paddu (paniyaram), Anjeer Halwa, Shavige are their special dishes. They also serve the regulars such as Upma, Idli-Vada, and Masala Dose.
Upma-Kesaribath and Shavige, is probably the best way to start any day! Piping hot Upma, delicious kesaribath, and perfect ottu shavige, not to forget the tasty Chutney, which blends well with upma and shavige. This place can change your take on upma, so give it a try even though you’re not a fan of it!
Anjeer halwa packs right amount of sweetness and is an absolute pleasure to indulge in!
Moving on to dose, they serve 3 varieties – Avalakki, Pickle, and Vegetable dose. Avalakki Dose is soft and just melts in the mouth. However, the Pickle dose needs a little work on its taste. The vegetable dose probably leaves you wondering which all vegetables are in it! Needless to say, a different try yet tasty.
Indian breakfasts usually end either with a coffee/chai and in our case, a coffee and masala chai! Masala chai flavors were on point, it’s tough to just stop with one cup!
On the whole, we had an amazing breakfast experience. Since it’s a small joint, take away is the best option. The place is well maintained with quick service. Three cheers to the staff who made sure we had a happy breakfast 🙂 Will surely be back for more.
